The Riveting History of Marrakech

Part of my being a writer is my passion for reading and researching. I remember during my college days, our mean, old journalism professors made us read the broadsheets and lots of thick resource materials for our major subjects everyday. The horrendous work of researching for our weekly articles were also among the things I had to endure back in college. I guess the habit of always being curious and instigating queries on the things that I find enthralling goes well with my present work and interests, particularly in traveling. Now, since I do love exploring outlandish regions and locales, my inquisitive trait led me in knowing the riveting history of Marrakech city.

My favorite Moroccan city was once the capital of a famed empire situated between Senegal and Spain. Marrakech’s location, which was specifically on the crossroads of an ancient caravan routing from Timbuktu, made it a fine destination for sub-Saharan merchants to conduct trading business. Yes, the town was once a trading post, and as what I saw and experienced during my first trip to the city, Marrakech still is but in a more modern way I guess, for the city now has fantastic souks and bargain districts for travelers to conveniently explore. Today, Marrakech is one of the most colorful and promising towns fit for adventurous travelers like me. With the captivating history of Marrakech, it is a city that I’m sure you guys will also fall in love with.
