Soothing “Fantasy” Nightlife in Marrakech
Apr 11th, 2007 by Rcon Franchesca Pascua

On one of my night outs in the streets of Marrakech, I remember I was pissed off and feeling cold at the same time. Not that the city has nothing special to offer during the night; I was actually pissed-off with myself because I forgot to put on warm clothes behind my back, knowing that nights in the city are awful chilly. What’s even worse was I left the hotel without my digital camera with me!
It was a good thing that in such particular dreary night, I landed in one of the sought-after nightlife destinations in Marrakech, the Chez Ali. My nerves eventually calmed down. Who wouldn’t be fascinated with the Chez Ali experience anyway? The 11 hectare arena is specifically built to provide Moroccan travelers a chance to see and hear the captivating sights and sounds of local traditional dancers and musicians. The program that the place holds is actually called “Fantasia” complete with belly dancers, music, singers, acrobatic horsemen, and fireworks, which are all well-presented to visitors and diners. Get the picture why I was pissed for forgetting my digital cam?
And speaking of dining, yes, Chez Ali is also a perfect place to get a taste of the delicious Marrakech cuisines. Its spacious abode also includes caidal tented rooms (which are all generously heated, thank God!) as outdoor dining areas. My irritation really died down when I tasted Chez Ali’s specialties - the mouth-watering lamb barbecues, the scrumptious hot soup, and the delicious Moroccan dish called “cus cus”! Chez Ali is truly a terrific nightlife destination in Marrakech that can really sooth a traveler’s unease nerves.
