A Different Taxi Experience

A tour around Marrakech is not fulfilling if you will not try riding in one of the city’s pride mode of transportation-the TAXIS! Yes, I know that there is really nothing new with taxis for these autos are found even in the most far-flung places in the world. But in Marrakech, there is really more to it than just a mere mode of transportation. Aside from the cheap fare (I guess this applies to those who know how to haggle for the right fare price), taxis in Marrakech are just about everywhere! Actually, I prefer to call them “little cars” because they really cover the city like ants on a piece of sweet bread.
What makes Marrakech taxis different is that these autos are categorized into two types: one is the petite taxi and the other is the grand taxi. The petite taxis are actually the ones I call “little cars,” for these are more in number compared to the grand taxis. I prefer to ride in these small cabs when I feel like cruising around the city and whenever I go to the souks or anywhere in the medina district. The grand taxis, on the other hand, are handy after a day of shopping in the souks. Although grand taxis are more expensive than the little cars, these cabs have spacious luggage compartments and are more comfortable for long rides. In addition to the haggling and the fun chatting moments with eager taxi drivers, another cool thing about riding in Marrakech’s taxis is co-driving! I don’t know for you guys, but riding around the city with other friendly foreigners or locals is definitely fine with me.
